• I have noticed that some templates I have looked at are using h1 tags instead of lower h2 or h3 tags for the permalinks/titles.

In terms of prudent SEO strategies, which do you think is best? I would opt to believe that h1 tag spamming might get you some demerits from the almighty search engine algorithms. Am I on crack?

I just found this post: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/97698?replies=3

This coincides with what I have come to know and sounds good to me. I’d still like to hear more opinions if possible though.

I use <h3> myself. I have a Pagerank 6 blog and have never thought much about anything related to SEO.

In my most humble opinion, I really think it’s the whole package that affects SEO, you might use <h1> but be lacking somewhere else.

Good code, decent content, a few backlinks, and pagerank comes. I think the magic of ‘doing this that or the other” is a well run dry.
