    Good morning

I am contacting you as I have a problem with the above-mentioned page. When searching on Google, the first H2 title is showing instead of the article title (H1) and the meta description is not showing on Google as well for that article.

As this article is number 4 on Google first page and gets more than 700 impressions a day, I am missing a lot of traffic by not having the correct title displayed.

Could you please have a look into it and let me know what is wrong with it.

    Thank you for your help

    Regards

    Aurelie

    Hello Aurelie,

    Thanks for reaching out.

First, we viewed the page source of https://theflamingohiker.com/margate-to-ramsgate-walk/ and the SEO title and meta description outputted are:

<title>Margate to Ramsgate via Broadstairs walk: The Viking Trail - The Flamingo Hiker</title>
<meta name="description" content="Whether you chose to start in Margate or in Ramsgate, this walk, easily accessible from London, is one of the most popular in the South coast and a MUST DO!" />

We assume this matches what you have entered in the Yoast SEO plugin. When we performed a search for that article, here is the search result. Indeed, the title is different from what appears in the page source!

It’s noteworthy that the title you enter in our snippet preview is a suggestion for Google. If you’ve crafted awesome meta tags for your blog posts, nothing is more annoying than Google showing other information for your site in the search results.

Google’s generation of page titles (and descriptions) is completely automated. Google’s goal is to best represent and describe each result. They use a number of different sources to get this information. In doing so, they try to make the search results as relevant as possible. Due to this being handled on Google’s end, there is little you can do to force Google to display your preferred title and description other than changing them and testing which one sticks.

We have an extensive knowledge base article that can help you understand why: Google is showing the wrong title for your site.
