• Our hosting provider claims our site was hacked, said probably through a plugin or theme that was poorly coded. All of the plugins, except for one, came from www.ads-software.com. The only one that didn’t was rev slider. Is there anyway to protect the site from this type of hack?
    Thanks.

  • Hi,

It’s up to each developer to ensure that their plugins are properly coded.
There’s unfortunately no magic for this, as the WordPress Team cannot see every vulnerability on all the plugins (and there are a lot of them!).

There are plugins to harden your site against such attacks though. But 100% prevention is never possible.

I am sorry to hear your site is damaged. Do you or your hosting company have a full backup of your site? The fastest and most sure way to repair your site is to restore from a backup made before the hack.

Without a backup your only permanent solution is to repair the site. Follow this guide.

When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.
