• Hi, I’m dealing with a hacked site of one customer, it seems an sql injection.
Checking all the php files for malicious code, and I’m going to install a fresh and updated version of wp, theme, plugins and new users & passwords. Then export the content of the hacked site (from a local mamp installation) and then import the xml file into the fresh online one.

Is this method safe to clean all the dirt code?
Will it restore all the info? (pages design, etc.)

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

it will not restore your design and settings, export/import is basically for content – posts, categories, pages …

It is relatively safe if you can check that content – database if there is everything ok.
Easy solution can be just restore backup of that site and then change all credentials and scan it with some security tools …

    Hi Peter thanks for answering!
Finally I installed a healthy but outdated backup and then imported the xml file from the hacked version to update the latest content. Also as you comment, I scanned the whole thing once online with security tools.

    I hope it works!

    Thank you!
