I’ve been hacking the beastblog-v2 theme, in particular removing items from the sidebar, and now I have a gap on the page at the bottom of the sidebar that I can’t get rid of. The url is https://www.interpan.info/. You can see my debugging output, the gap in question is between “end sidebar” and “start footer”. I’ve tried removing the <hr /> near the top of footer.php but it made no difference. What should I do?

  • I have been through this time and time again and I always made a backup of the theme, then through one edit at a time and posting it to the server I got what I was going for. I also did NOT delete any code, all I did was comment it out and used either DW or Txtmate. I am on a Mac.

In the beginning there were allot of oops’s if you will but you’ll get the hang of it.

Thanks MichaelBB but I was hoping for something a little more specific! I’m sure there’s something somewhere I can read for relevant info on basic WP page layout but I haven’t found it yet.

You have 50px of padding at the bottom of your sidebar in your CSS. Could that be it?

The Codex contains documentation on how to set up a page, etc. I’m not sure there is a “basic page layout.” Every theme is a little different.
