Hacking attempts from www.ads-software.com?

  • I use statcounter.com to track visitors. Since about 6 weeks I notice lots of visitor entries from San Antonio, Texas, United States www.ads-software.com from different IP Addresses:
    66.135.48.187
    72.233.96.147
    72.233.96.148
    69.170.134.170
    66.135.48.186
    66.135.48.203
    66.135.48.186

    Browser: Unknown
    OS: Unknown
    Resolution: 30720×768

    While I was writing this I noticed also entries from:

    Dallas, Texas, United States Layered Technologies
    IP Address:
    72.233.96.148
    72.233.96.147

    Browser: Unknown
    OS: Unknown
    Resolution: 30720×768

    Note that all entries are from unknown browsers with a strange resolution.

    Is that something I should be worried about? Could that be just a bot or perhaps hacking attempts?

    Any help or info would be much appreciated.

    Can anyone easy my mind and tell why I’m getting 100’s of page views within seconds from the sources above?

    Layered Technologies appears to be a cloud hosting service. So my guess would be that someone hosted on their servers has a crawler script set up that is probably scraping your site for content. Since it’s cloud hosting, you’re seeing IPs from multiple servers, even though it’s probably just one account that’s doing it.

    Personally, I’d just block the IP range and be done with it.
