• Hi you guys, I’m new at WordPress and busy with my first project. There are two things I should get help with.
    1) On mobile I’ve got the so called hamburger button, which has a plus sign to add menu’s. There you see a overview off all the menus. This is not necessary and I don’t know where it comes from. Any idea how to get rid of it?
    2) I would like to add a function when you log in on the website you fill in the city you live in, and a box that says, makes my coordinates available to others.. then on the main website I would like to add a button with a map where the persons can be seen who registered on the website. Also I would like to add the function to chat with the people by clicking on their name. There is already a chat function, but this should be another extra to the website. My question is, is this possible to make? And so, what kind of skill level is needed to integrate this… Like it’s now, I made it like a Facebook like page, with the Thrive template for WordPress. Me myself I’m not skilled at all, I’m just very patient… ??
Anyhow, thanks in advance, looking forward for any response.
    Kind regards.

  • Hey there and welcome!

Can you provide a link to the site you’re working on? That often helps figure out things like what you’re asking about.

    1) Without a link, I can’t say much here. Are you talking about when you login to your site on a mobile device or when users visit your site on mobile? If it’s when you login, you’ll need that to move from page to page within your mobile admin experience. Otherwise, how would you move to a new page? If it’s for your visitors, there shouldn’t be a way for visitors to add menus, should there? In either case, looking into the responsive nature of your theme is where you can find out about how to turn things on and off in the mobile version. But it all depends on how your theme is handling all of that.

    2) That sounds like a lot of functionality! That’s a lot of things you need to coordinate and is asking for a bunch of work. I’d take one thing at a time and start by looking for a plugin that will make the coordinates of those registered available. Are you creating a network with your WordPress install? https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/create-a-network/ Once you figure out how to make the location of your registered users available to others who are registered, next you might tackle the chat feature. Is there a plugin that allows registered users to chat with each other?

I hope that at least gives you some ideas to start with! More detail could help others tell you some other useful info.

Hi tsguitar, thanks for your response. Appreciate it. As for what interests me the most, the connectivity function, I also searched for some kind of plugin but didn’t find it. Feel free to drop some suggestions how to start.
