I have written some instructions for a default (unmodified) copy of Bootstrap Basic here:

On your site you have extra custom CSS, like this:

.. which will stop the menu showing. You’ll need to work backwards and find out which CSS you’ve added that is stopping the menu from displaying.

To get the menu to display on top of the slideshow try this CSS:

.main-navigation {
position: relative;
z-index: 99999999;
}
