Handheld footer Search not working with Firefox

    I’ve been struggling with the woocommerce storefront handheld footer customization, and amidst all my changes I “lost” the Search button function when viewing the page on my phone. It would generally just reload the Homepage.

    In a moment of desperation, I did a brand new install of WP and Storefront on a sub-domain. The only new plugins installed are Woocommerce and Jetpack. On my mobile, using Firefox, the footer appears: My Account button works. Cart button works. Search button returns either My Account page or Cart page, depending on which side of the halfway point of the Search button I touch.

    It works fine in Chrome. I feel a bit silly for not trying a different browser 12 hours ago. But I thought somebody above my pay-grade would wanna know about this issue.

    If a fix or workaround exists, I’d really like to know about it.

    Oh. Firefox V 47.0 on a Samsung S3 mini, Android v 4.4.2.

    Hi @cherbal – I’ve used Browserstack to try to reproduce it (it was on an S4, not S3) and there it didn’t give issues (it was the same Android version).

    It seems that this might be quite an edge-case of configurations needed.

    Hi Job.

    I’m glad to hear it’s an edge-case. I’m more concerned with customers than me. Just wish I’d figured it out sooner.

    Turns out the built-in Samsung Internet browser gives the same issue. I also mis-characterized the issue: it just re-loads whatever page I’m on.

    Yeah @cherbal – it seems like the more recent devices will cause no issues.
