• Hi,
Even though the tag buttons are there and properly added (Handle restricted visitors->Show them a simple message->text box), the tags are shown as plain text to the unwanted visitor. I think this used to work, for example login link worked, but now the <a href … stuff is there visible in the page. Is it just me (compatibility), or is this a bug? I have a production multisite with tens of sites and plugins, so disabling one by one is not an easy task.
    Cheers!

Hi everyone – this is a long-standing issue that has a lot to do with how that “simple” message is output by WordPress and what’s expected and allowed while still being secure. I do not recall it working in the past but can’t say for sure, it’s been a long time using it ?? This is being tracked as an issue in GitHub; however, I do not currently have a timeline for shipping changes to this functionality and do not know whether we’d go the direction of allowing more tags or removing the misleading tags from the editor toolbar. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi Helen,
Thank you for your reply. If any or some tags only, the a tag would be a good choice IMO. Always nice to give a link with explanation.
