• Greetings. I just installed wordpress on my personal web server, running apache httpd 2.2.14-r1, mysql 5.0.84-r1, gentoo linux, and wordpress 2.9. The install process (clicked submit on the install.php page) took one metric forever (but completed successfully), and I get similar behavior when adding users, etc. When I domysql> show processlist; I see a connection from wpuser to wordpress (the user and db I use) that’s sleeping, and has been for a while. Meanwhile, my browser is twiddling it’s thumbs waiting for the website to come back. If I go to a different page (click on a link in wordpress), it comes back just fine, and my user is there.

I tried disabling persistent mysql connections in my php.ini, and that didn’t seem to help. I’m no mysql pro, so I’m looking for a place to start looking. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you much!
