• Hey

I am using the name: ?kosamfunn (okosamfunn) Sustainable village term for a CPT.
I happen to create a page I named ?kosamfunn (okosamfunn) the sub pages even though the name and url was correct caused 404 errors. I had to rename the top page to something else and then the subpages were once again seen.

If your okosamfunn custom post type is hierarchical as well, then chances are the page being named okosamfunn as well is causing WordPress to not know if it should be checking for the post type or the page, and the sub URLs were being considered as part of the wrong post type. I’m assuming they were thought to be child PAGES, and not children of the post type, for which they didn’t exist.

Once you removed the naming conflict, the sub URLs were once again properly interpreted as children of the appropriate parent and parent post type.

One reason we have purposely warn/block against saving a post type slug that matches a page that already exists. To help avoid accidentally get into this situation. However, I can’t control it when the post type is created first, and then the page afterwards. ??
