This is a plea for a feature request. Our calendar has well over 1500 events, most are repeating events – weekly events published on the calendar for months in advance.

Many of these events have very similar names – for instance, there are 5 different Cardio Fitness classes.

When it comes time to update these events, it’s really hard to locate the correct event in the main “All Events” list in the backend admin. What would help us IMMENSELY is if the backend admin CALENDAR view of all events had the option to VIEW PARENT – in addition to the View Event and Edit Event buttons that appear (see: https://prnt.sc/3PGb-1lx75rv)

A less desirable, but better than nothing solution would be if when we are viewing a child event in the back end, there was a way to VIEW PARENT from directly inside the child Edit Event screen.

Please please consider adding this funtionality – every month when we have to update these events, it takes us SO long, mostly because scrolling through and finding the correct Parent event is so challenging with over 1500 events in the list – even when searching by “cardio” we still have to scroll through several screens to make sure we are finding the correct class.

    Thanks!

On the all events list page, if you click on the “screen options” in upper right and in there choose “repeat” it will add a column to the events listing that gives the repeat type. I use primarily “daily” and “custom dates”. The parent event will have the repeat type (i.e. daily) and the children will have a parent/child icon. While still not great, it does make identifying parent events easier.

Thank you for the suggestion! But yes – we do have that column turned on and that works well for events with a very unique name, but it doesn’t help when there are numerous classes and activities with the same or similar name. We then have to look at the Start date, then look up whether the start date was a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc – to know which one was the one we want to click on. Not to mention some classes are held several times a day, at different times. So we’d have to find the Cardio class that is on a Monday and then check the start time – it just gets to be so tedious.

If there was a quick way from that back end admin Calendar view to get to the parent – that would make updating all of these a breeze instead of a frustration every single time.

    Hello @the_webscaper ,

To access the respective parent event, please click on the parent/child icon (branch-shaped) located under the “Repeat” column for the child events. This action will redirect you to the parent event’s “Edit Event” page.

Additionally, we have documented your request for a functionality that allows redirection to the parent event directly from the child event’s edit screen. Our team will assess its feasibility for potential inclusion in upcoming releases. Once implemented, this feature will be highlighted in our changelog, and we encourage you to stay tuned for further updates.

A special thanks to @lpint for your proactive assistance – your contributions are always appreciated!
