  • I was just about to post this myself. I dont have the time right now to play tech support web developer on my site. Nervous to upgrade with all the crap this has caused. Would love to know this as well.

    I’m having a few issues as well and it’s problematic as my members are receiving gibberish in their emails and difficult navigating when logged in.

    THE ISSUES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

    –Continuous screen loading i.e. never fully loads.
    –User info in admin screen (log-in/logout etc.) flickers endlessly
    –Email templates were replaced with code (customers are receiving code. See below)

    These all started on Monday.

    TROUBLESHOOTING:

    –Disabled all plugins and checked one-by-one to single out any conflict
    –Made sure all versions of WP and plugins are up-to-date
    –Cleared server cache and made sure I’m using up-to-date PHP version etc.
    –Ran Healthcheck plugin for diagnostics. It came up with:

    RESULTS:
    –Ultimate Member was the only plugin that was found to be problematic
    –Everything is up-to-date
    –Server verified everything as it should be & there’s no problem on their end.
    –Healthcheck found two issues in the “Loopback request” section. They are as follows:

    “The loopback request to your site failed, this may prevent WP_Cron from working, along with theme and plugin editors.<br>Error encountered: (0) cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate

    AND

    “Result from testing without any plugins active and a default theme: The loopback request to your site failed, this may prevent WP_Cron from working, along with theme and plugin editors. Error encountered: (0) cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate”

    CODE that appears in all email messages from Ultimate member to customers and admins:

    <div style=”color: #444444;font-weight: normal;”>
    <div style=”text-align: center;font-weight:600;font-size:26px;padding: 10px 0;border-bottom: solid 3px #eeeeee;”>{site_name}</div>

    <div style=”clear:both”></div>
    </div>

    <div style=”padding: 0 30px 30px 30px;border-bottom: 3px solid #eeeeee;”>

    <div style=”padding: 30px 0;font-size: 24px;text-align: center;line-height: 40px;”>You recently updated your account.</div>

    <div style=”padding: 10px 0 50px 0;text-align: center;”>Go to your Account</div>

    <div style=”padding: 15px;background: #eee;border-radius: 3px;text-align: center;”>If you did not make this change and believe your account has been compromised, please contact us ASAP.</div>

    </div>

    <div style=”color: #999;padding: 20px 30px”>

    <div style=””>Thank you!</div>
    <div style=””>The {site_name} Team</div>

    </div>

    </div>

    I need to get this fixed asap, if there’s anyone that has a solution I will gladly listen.

    Thanks,

    I’ve upgraded from 1.3.88 to 2.x. Whilst I do have some “residual issues” remaining, none of them have been insurmountable. My advice would be to attempt the upgrade on a staging site first to gain an idea of what is broken before doing the same in your production environment.

    WP Roll Back is a good plugin that you can install beforehand so if things do go wrong, you can use this to revert.

    Make sure when you’re doing the staging you deactivate the plug in and then activate it again. I’ve had success in upgrading with this.

    Most importantly – create a back up of our site & database! There are table changes here that you can’t just remove the plugin and go back to normal.

    I have how ever seen a lot of plugin issues and conflicts. We use this with an active directory integration and ran into issues here. We were able to get these fixed by reaching out to the other plugin authors. I’m personally not one to let developers say “it’s the other plugins problem” but collaboration between them is always a good thing. Make sure when you’re installing and running into issues that you deactivate other plugins to reduce the problems. On a testing platform you can always reactivate these after one at a time if needed until you find the conflict.

    The email thing is an easy fix in settings on the email tab, go to the last thing at the bottom. Check use HTML for Emails and save changes. Without this checked the emails send raw code rather then the actual content.
