• Hi there,

The plugin works as expected but has not been updated for over two years now and is being flagged by Wordfence.

I imagine the plugin is likely fine as is but would like to know for sure based on an update from the developers.

    Thoughts @markjaquith? Thank you!

  • weird. it seems at least 3 comments on this thread disappeared today… hopefully just a glitch in the support forums!

@tmuka I also noticed this and thought it was just me… definitely weird and makes me think it could be time to find a replacement plugin.

There are some replacement plugins I’ve found but have not yet tested. Reading in the replacement plugins’ forums ppl have asked and developers confirmed there’s no direct migration tool within. That’s kind of a tough decision to switch as I’ve got hundreds of redirections to manage. Hoping PageLinksTo gets revived.

Hello! Non-techie question. If I simply DISABLE or DEACTIVATE the plugin, will my old posts using it for redirect then re-redirect back to pre-use of the plugin, or will everything remain re-directed as is because I already used the plugin.

I want the redirections done by this plugin to remain, so I’m afraid to deactivate it. However, I no longer need to redirect for future posts, so I’m okay deactivating the plugin if doing so will leave my site “as is” now.

    Thanks!

@junkofdavid2, once the plugin is deactivated the redirects will no longer work. I recommend using something like the Redirection plugin to setup the redirects while Page Links To is still installed so it is easy to see which pages/posts had a redirect setup.

I used a more complex solution that involves creating custom fields and custom post categories and page templates so the redirect settings are within the page/post editor instead of having to go to the Redirection plugin settings area which creates a bit of a disconnect if you want to know how a page/post is setup.

@tderouindesign Thanks for the reply! I deactivated the plugin before your reply above just to test, but STRANGELY, all the redirects still work! Weird I know, but I’m still observing and haven’t deleted the plugin yet, in case I need to reactivate it if the redirects stop working. Am I missing something? Or am I ‘out of the woods’ already you think (and able to delete the abandoned plugin coz it’s a security risk)? Regards!

Update: Old page redirects no longer working, 3 days after I deactivated. So I guess it just needed to propagate. Now changed to plugin “301 Redirects” and it works fine. I’m just using the free version which is good enough for my purpose. Note that there’s a misleading popup after activation which makes it look like you only have the Pro (pay) option, but just click anywhere on the page to close that popup, and continue using it free. Will continue to observe it for any bugs. Haven’t deleted “Page Links To” yet, just in case I need to reactivate it.
