    Can’t move media to uploads/ !?

You can upload files directly to the Uploads folder but it is not possible to move files from another folder to Uploads.”

Has this problem been fixed? Or is it still impossible to move media back into the uploads folder once you have moved it to another folder created by MLF?

You replied a week ago that you were able to reproduce the problem:

Dexter: “I’m using WordPress 5.6.1 and the default Twenty Twenty-One theme”

Alan: “Some thumbnails were left behind when testing with the 2021 theme.”

Now you’re saying that you can’t. What changed?

You also spoke in your previous post of the thumbnails being “moved”. Is this really the case or are they actually being deleted in the old folder and recreated in the new folder? Is MLF doing this or is WP?

@dexterg I’ve discovered that when thumbnails images are regenerated that WordPress does not remove any old thumbnail size that are not involved in the regeneration process. These would be sizes of thumbnails that are no longer in use due to a theme or plugin change. With version 6.1.5 of Media Library Folders, we have added code to remove the thumbnail sizes that WordPress has stored in the image’s metadata record when one or more image thumbnails are regenerated. This should help reduce the number of thumbnails left after a move or delete operation.

That’s good news! Thanks for letting me know, Alan.

Unfortunately, I shut down the website where I was testing all of this, so I cannot verify that all of the ghost thumbnails that I was getting after a move have been eliminated.

Did you ever figure out why we have to grab thumbnails by their upped edges in order to be able to move them back into the Uploads folder?

I have no news on the other issues.
