The short answer:
The features available in our WordPress plugin are just the tip of the iceberg for what is available on our free web app at ContactUs.com — and everyone who downloads and creates an account with our plugin will always have free access to our web app AND their plugin. Many of these tools, including the sync with MailChimp (and 20 other 3rd party database and email management tools) would not be possible if people weren’t creating some sort of account in order to sync up with the 3rd party API’s — this is one of the primary reasons everyone needs to create an account — some of our advanced features require it, and we want to make sure that every account has access to these advanced features.
We also try to make it very clear throughout the plugin description that you will need to create a free account on ContactUs.com after installing the plugin — we’re proud of this feature and know that once users try us for the first time, they won’t go back to the other contact form plugins for WordPress that can’t stack up to all of the amazing features we’ve built into our free accounts.

Our plugins aren’t just contact forms, they are extensions of the ContactUs.com application, which is cloud based, and enable users to perform form submission optimization, lead management, tab and form customization, A/B testing, manage auto responders, create advanced triggers and manage all of your forms, for multiple sites, from one place.

For example, if you have a mailing list that is fed from multiple landing pages, in multiple sites, and you wanted to test out 3 different call to actions, you could log into ContactUs.com, click on AB test, select the Tabs you want to try out and save. All of your forms would automatically be updated, testing would be initialized, all in a matter of seconds.
