Have Another Page on Site display the latest 5 Blog Posts

Sorry but I just can not figure this out and have watched endless tutorials and am still missing something here. I started out with a Starkers theme. I know how to create a custom home page and custom interior pages using a minimal amount of PHP ??

Okay having done the above but wanting to still have a blog feature at the site, what the heck do I do next? I can write the posts but I want one central page (“The Blog” Page) on which to display the last few blog articles before they migrate to their designated category. I figure this has everything to writing a loop but I have tried and tried to create a loop with ZERO success!
