• Hi.

    After moving a bunch of random HTML (dialog boxes, browser shakers, playing with links, etc.) from a comment to an original post, I noticed at the very top of my site but below the admin bar on the page I’m talking about and some other pages like this one, it shows the text Continue reading →”/> . I don’t know exactly how this has happened, and on one page it even quotes something from the page itself before the text. It happens on only about 50% of the pages on my site, but it’s really annoying. I’ve tried reinstalling wordpress from the Updates section, but that didn’t work. It shows up on both my Firefox and Chrome. How can I get rid of it?

  • Since the text is being rendered in the head of the document, it’s probably some invalid code in a function or a plugin.

    Try disabling all your plugins and check to see if that fixes the problem. If you can narrow it down a plugin, you’ll know where to start troubleshooting.

    If you added a custom function in your themes functions.php file, there could be a missing semicolon or other invalid code that could be causing this issue.

    <span class="meta-nav">→</span>
    "/>

    Look for the above either as a block or separately in the template that you used for the page(s), and it is the most likely place you can find it. Being leftover code of some edited files, it can be elsewhere too, not necessarily in the header because chunks/leftovers like the above outside of any tags will usually appear on the top. Strangely, it can even be in your CSS.

    caused by a ‘facebook image fix’ plugin;
    <!-- Start FaceBook Image Fix <https://www.capn3m0.org> -->

    which uses incorrect coding to output the post’s excerpt as og meta description;

    remove the plugin and find another one.

    Wow thanks alchymyth that did the trick. I guess I don’t need that plugin anyway as it didn’t even really work.
