Have I been hacked?

  • Hi,

    My blog was functioning perfectly normally earlier today – but I just checked it, and it says:

    It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.

    I haven’t touched a thing. I’ve been out all day! Have I been hacked? When I run install.php, it says:

    Already Installed

    You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

    What has happened? I have <b>no</b> idea how to fix this. Can anyone offer advice? (as to why it’s happened, and/or how to fix it!)

  • it just looks like someone came across your site and installed WP for you ..

    try deleting everything and reinstalling …

    That’s an odd “advice” DP… written before thinking, I guess. (Note: we are talking about an existing, working blog! – deleting is a nonsense)

    The error has been reported several times in the forum and seemingly it can be caused by different things.
    Try to see if any thread has a solution.

    Thanks for the replies. I’m not having much luck at all. What should I do? I can’t re-install WP because it says it’s already installed! I can’t do anything…

    Interesting…I tried deleting the siteurl in wp_options…which seems to be working. Note: I didn’t delete the row, I just blanked it and then replaced it.

    Worrying though. I wish I knew why it just “happened”.

    Likely your host was doing something with the mysql. Happened on several blogs I maintain on one server. Been fine since.

    Well, despite my fix it’s happened again. This is seriously worrying me now. Samboll, what were your hosters doing with MySQL; can you remember?
