Have migrated from MAMP to live server, nowall pages except index 404 not found!

    Help! Not sure if this is the correct section to post in but….

    I have just migrated my first site from MAMP to the live server. Everything worked perfectly, I followed these fantastic instructions https://www.jasonbobich.com/web-design/moving-wordpress-to-a-new-server/ and had absolutely no problems.

    Except…

    The site is live and only the home page is visible. I made a new .htaccess file and it’s writeable, and it’s in the root directory with index.php. I re-saved the permalink structure in the admin settings and had a success message. I checked on the pages themselves and the search and replace has worked and all the permalinks are correct.

    Every time I navigate away from the home page I get an error 404 not found message…. I don’t know what to do now!

    Check my previous reply – https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/migration-to-plesk-gone-wrong?replies=2#post-3506688 ; that should work. There is no need to follow the step 3 of that troubleshoot in your case. Just update the permalink.

    Two MySQL tables actually needs to be updated for your live website which are actually for your localhost. Its difficult to say exactly whether there are one or two errors working together.

    There is a flaw in the method, that is creating the error. I unfortunately can not criticize any third party’s method on www.ads-software.com forum.

    But kindly do not change permission from default (chmod) of any folder of WP by any method unless you know what you are doing.

    You are moving from the IP 127.0.0.1 ; i.e. localhost.
