Have people signup/login to view content

Im starting a blog and I want for people to be able to view the initial blog page with all of the titles, excerpts and thumbnails but to have to sign in when the click the “read more” button.

Ideally I would like for these registered users to appear in my mailchimp list but the most important thing for me is that they register to the site.

I have searched for a while here on the forums and most posts covering this topic are 2 or 3 years old and some of those plugins havent been updated in a while.. any fresh recommendations?
