Have some knowledge of building website but need a bit of technical advice

Curently building a website about William Blake. I’ve loaded text, menue, pics and videos etc. I’ve using Local as a host as I’m learning and elementor for editing. I’ve run into the error 500 problem and have scowered the net and youtube for help but am not sure if I need to down load an FTP client?? or is one already on my system with Local?? (please forgive my ignorance here) I’m having a real problem with this.
Also I’d like to save the entire piece of work to a USB maybe, I’ve installed a plugin to back it up but haven’t managed to verify this just yet.Any help would be appreciated

On local, you can just use your own file system. FTP isn’t required.
Enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/
You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
