Have to close an image twice for it to disappear

I’ve just installed this plugin and have used it for the first time. I have a small issue though, in that when an image is clicked on to make larger, I have to close it twice. Like the first disappears when clicking the ‘X’, but then the same image is sitting behind the closed one and also needs moving.
