Have to login twice

    For some months now I find two attempts are required to successfully login to our site as admin.

    We are running WordFence with 2FA enabled on admin logins.

    On the first attempt the username and password are accepted and the 2FA code is entered, then WP says it is an invalid login and returns me to the login screen. The second attempt works OK. Same experience with all browsers and platforms (MacOS and iPadOS).

    Of course WordFence logs the unsuccessful attempt.

    I have seen a now-closed post about this issue, which was apparently resolved through a caching plugin but didn’t specify how.

    If anyone knows the answer, please detail the steps required to resolve.
