Have to rename "Plugins" directory to get into admin panel…

  • I’m running 4.3 and have had this problem since 4.2… Every time I need to log into the admin panel, I have to open my ftp client and change the name of the plugins directory to something like PLUGINSZ… Once I’m in the admin panel I go back and rename it back to PLUGINS to do updates and such… Once back at the front end, I can’t log into the admin panel without once again renaming the plugins directory… I know it sounds like a plugin problem and I have deactivated each one by one, but to no avail… Anyone having the same problem? Nothing has changed since I updated to 4.2 and now 4.3 and no plugins have been added since way back in the 4.0 version…

  • Are you getting any errors or a white screen when this happens? Might check your PHP error log for any errors that might point to something. The PHP error_log is usually in the same directory as the script, so probably in the /wp-admin/ directory.

    Not getting any errors or white screen… When I type in the URL followed by /wp-admin/ it takes me back to the front end page… I have to continually go to my ftp to rename the plugins directory… Here is the last few lines of my error.log:

    Also, I may be able to get to the admin panel a few times in a row, but, eventually, I have to rename the plugins directory…
