• I have spent around 15 hours trying to make this editor fit with my varying sites and it is just too time-consuming working with individual blocks and having to format each individual block.

I have two sites that use a lot of html codes and have their own block system using the <div> element. I tried pasting a whole page into a custom html block but it only recognised some of the code. Then I tried splitting the code up into separate blocks but it was clunky and time consuming and the block with the inline image would not do what I wanted it to.

In reality I expected to have problems with those sites since Gutenberg has not been designed to work with html sites so I moved on to my other sites which are more traditional paragraph and image type sites.

I did try very hard to make Gutenberg work but the time taken to fiddle around with different blocks for each paragraph coupled with the problem with inline images and/or having to break a paragraph to add an image made it a pointless exercise.

I have, over the last 5 or 6 years always recommended WordPress to friends and acquaintances as being as easy as writing a Word or Publisher document, hitting a button and your web page is live. If Gutenberg is added to core this will no longer be the case.

I sincerely hope that Gutenberg is made an optional plugin rather than part of core but if not I believe that those plugins that override Gutenberg will see millions of instals.
