Hi, I have been trying for over a week to make this work. From what I can see it will do exactly what I want, but the set up is a nightmare. I’ve noticed that there are some requests for support listed here that go back months that haven’t been addressed…

I, like so many here, am having problems trying to make the feed work. Settings below:

    Source Feed URL: https://www.domainname.com.au/podcast/podcast.xml
    XPath to Posts:/podcast

    Blank NameSpace Prefix & URL

    Post Type: Post
    Post Status: Publish
    Update Existing Posts: Yes
    Automatically Add New Posts: podcasts

    Source Field (XPath): title
    Source Field (XPath): pubDate

    Status : Pulling feed
Warning : No items in feed

Please tell me what am I doing wrong?

  • Is that really the URL you are trying to pull from? In any case, it’s returning a 404 error.

Sorry, no the domain name is hawkesburychurch

    Hi wselwood,

Using https://www.hawkesburychurch.com.au/podcast/podcast.xml as the SourceFeed URL and your XPath above works for me…

I’m not an expert, but I’m guessing you would have to create some custom fields (using something like the CMB2 plugin) to map the XPath to the download link, keywords etc.

Then amend your podcast category single template to display the new fields as you desire.

Yes, the source feed url is fine as is the XML file, it’s integrating them into the Feed Pull plugin that isn’t working.

The status says it’s puling the feed, but the warning says there are no items in the feed. I know my side of everything is fine, so the problem lies in the plugin set up — that’s where I’m looking for assistance!

I tried setting up your URL as a new feed in one of my testing sites and I don’t get that error – it pulls them in as posts – with no content of course, but the titles and the date are all correct in the new post.

Ok, so what did you do that I didn’t?

How have you got your settings?

Sorry – just noticed your XPath to posts value is wrong.

It should be XPath to posts: channel/item

And there in lay the problem. I was over thinking the set up. No wonder it couldn’t find anything!

Thanks for your help and patience Sok!

    You’re welcome mate ??
