my website continues to have a sync issue with Jetpacks that leads to our social media not being updated with new stories.

to fix it myself, I have to disconnect and reconnect every week.

the debug tool shows no issues but every Monday, we stop sharing to social media. Leading me to disconnect and reconnect.

Hi @darrenseuk, thanks for getting in touch.

my website continues to have a sync issue with Jetpacks that leads to our social media not being updated with new stories.

I’m sorry to hear the issues are persisting on your end! I had a look and your site has been nicely in sync for the past couple of weeks. So, I’m curious if there might be something else at play here.

I did notice that your site sometimes returns a 403 Forbidden error when Jetpack tries to connect. To address this, I’d suggest checking if you have any security plugins activated that might be blocking our requests.

If not, please reach out to your hosting provider and ask them to check their security logs to see if they are blocking or otherwise limiting incoming and outgoing connections over XML-RPC. Jetpack uses this file to communicate with your site, but some hosts block connection requests to that file.

Our requests look like the following:

Please ask them to allowlist the IP addresses listed above. Note that these IP addresses could change (or more could be added) at any time, which could break your connection to Jetpack. For this reason, we actually discourage allowing specific IPs, although, with some hosts, it may be the only option.

Let us know when you have done that, and we can test the connection again.

    Hi Leah

thanks for your help with this.

I have been on with WP Engine and we have set up a web-rule that allows you access to the required section.

Are you able to test your connection now?

    thanks again

    Hi @darrenseuk,

I’m still seeing the same 403 error when trying to access https://marineindustrynews.co.uk/xmlrpc.php.

I’m wondering if you could check your Cloudflare settings and make sure they’re aligned with what’s outlined in this document.

While Cloudflare and Jetpack are compatible, sometimes the settings need a bit of finessing. By default, Cloudflare blocks non-Jetpack access to xmlrpc.php, serving an HTTP 403 Forbidden message. You may need to manually configure access for Jetpack by following this guide.

Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Leah

We no longer use Cloudflare with the MIN website. We have routed everything back to 123-reg where the domain is registered

I have gone back to WP Engine and worked on the web rules and tested it with my own IP. Your IP’s should now be able to connect and only your IP’s

    Hi @darrenseuk !

The connection test looks all green now! I can’t access XMLRPC on your site from my working computer, but I’m assuming that WP Engine have whitelisted all Jetpack’s IPs, and that’s what matters.

You shouldn’t have to reconnect Jetpack anymore, and your posts should go out to social media on time.

Please let us know if you notice any other problems!
