Having trouble posting and site moving molasses slow after upgrading to 3.0

After upgrading to 3.0, the site and my admin pages are moving extra slow like molasses, causing connection time out errors. I can’t really post anything new, it let me post one thing this morning but after that, it wouldn’t let me. Yesterday I got to post and tried to save a draft and it did not save draft. Basically, I can’t post and everything is moving so slow that it take minutes to get to one page/section to the other. I’ve tried doing these as suggested to no avail.

– switching to the 2010 theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

– re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

– increasing the available memory?

I tried switching to twenty theme theme and nothing. I’ve deleted plug-ins and resetted the folder and nothing. I re-uploaded the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from fresh download and nothing. I cannot get to my PHP.ini files nor have any clue what .htaccess file is (not a whiz on the computer but savvy) so I’m out of ideas of how to workaround this. I increased the memory from 24M to 256M and still nothing. Does anyone have any other suggestions or solutions? Please, I’d really love to get back to work. Starting to really regret upgrading to 3.0 from 2.9.2 which was working perfectly for me.
