I’ve installed hCaptcha this morning and have this error on the hCaptcha Settings page:

hCaptcha has failed to initialize. Please see the developer tools console for more information.

In my Console (F12) log, the only thing I that mentions hCaptcha is this warning:

Request to access cookie or storage on “https://js.hcaptcha.com/1/api.js?onload=hCaptchaOnLoad&render=explicit” was blocked because we are blocking all third-party storage access requests and content blocking is enabled.

I have third party cookies disabled in my browser and would like to keep it that way.

I do not have an hCaptcha site key yet, but presume that is not the cause of the issue?

    Please could you advise, thanks.

You should also see the following message in the console:

    general.js:96 Missing sitekey – https://hcaptcha.com/docs/configuration#[email protected]:96

Anyway, you are right – you need to set Site Key ad Secret Key. To get them for free, register here.

Please let me know if you have any further troubles.

Thanks. I’m not sure what else was in the developer console. I may have missed it, given how much content is in there…

But why not just post a more meaningful message on-screen rather than sending the user to the console to search out the error?

On the General settings page, it was just copy of the message appeared in the dev tolls console. This message comes from hcaptcha api script.

In the next 4.2.0 version of the plugin (to be released soon), this message does not appear anymore on the General settings page.
