My website has 8 pages. All of the sudden, the logo on the left and the contact us section on the right disappeared in all pages except the contact us page, which is still good. Would appreciate your help in solving this puzzle.

  • Hi @ksoussou,

This may be a plugin or theme issue, or a bug. Let’s act accordingly:

    01. Can you disable all plugins and then activate back one by one to identify the cause of your issue?

Also, is the issue present with all your plugins temporarily deactivated? You can use the Health Check plugin for this, which will not change your live site –https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/

    02. In case this doesn’t detect the issue, can you please let me know:
    * What version of WordPress are you using?
    * Is the issue present with a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One? Again, you can use the Health Check plugin for this.

I have disabled all plugins one by one and nothing has changed, but then I discovered something weird that have never seen before. In the Plugins, I’ve found two Drop-ins, which defined as: “Drop-ins are single files, found in the wp-content directory, that replace or enhance WordPress features in ways that are not possible for traditional plugins.” The two plugin are:

1.object-cache.php described as External object cache
    APCu Object Cache
    2. db-error.php described as custom database error message.

I don’t know what those came from. I also noticed that the reason the logo disappeared is because the header height shrunk in size in all pages except in the Contact us page.

My WordPress is 6.0.1. My theme is called Elegance theme

    Thank you for your help.

    `Hi @ksoussou,

I see. After some testing, let me share several things that may help:

    The missing header issue.
    01. Did you try putting your site in the default theme? Did that make any difference?
    02. SRC attribute is empty/unknown for your logo and contact info (except on the contact page). This can be due to plenty of reasons. Can you try and replace the logo with some other image and see if there are any changes?

    Drop-ins.
    03. ‘Drop-ins’ appeared may come from your hosting. Could you reach out to your hosting and check if their service caused the ‘drop-ins’ to appear?

Here’s an interesting article about it too:
    https://kevdees.com/what-are-wordpress-drop-in-plugins/

    04. Conclusion. Is your theme Divi? If so, there is their ‘Divi’ plugin too. Can you confirm this?

If the default theme and image replacement don’t solve your issue, please reply to all questions by referencing them as above (01,02,03,04). Thanks!

Thank you very much for your help.
    01. As for the default theme, the Health check keeps asking me to make a default, which I’ve tried with no success. If you know how to do this, please explain how as I cannot see this is possible.
    02. I don’t understand what SRC attribute is. Please explain
    03. I have called GoDaddy regarding the Drop-ins and was told that there is nothing wrong with it.
    04. My Theme is not Divi even though I don’t know what Divi is.

    Thanks again

    Hi @ksoussou,

    01. Hm, weird. The quickest way to do this is —?once you’ve enabled Troubleshooting mode, by simply clicking (in the top bar) troubleshooting>themes and selecting the default theme that is present. Here’s an article that can help:
    https://make.www.ads-software.com/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/

    02. SRC attribute is the source URL of the image in HTML. In our case, I was referring to the logo. On all pages except the contact, your SRC attribute was empty/blank, while on contact there is a specified link that enables your logo to load in the header. Now I see that your logo is back on all pages. Can you let me know what you did to make this happen?

    03. ‘Drop-ins’. Ok. Then they most likely are created by the plugins. As there’s not enough documentation on this issue, please check the article once more.

    04. Theme. My apologies, there’s a similar theme from the Divi provider and I thought you are using a different theme by mistake. Can you share the source of your theme (web link) or is it a custom-made theme?

Considering everything here, I believe you would need to write to the developer’s forum. Before that, let me know the answers to questions 02 & 04 to learn if I still can help with some walkaround here so we can have the ‘contact us’ visible too.

    02. When you told me that the source is empty, I have created a field and called it company logo and added the logo on each page. So now it is back to normal except that I still have the same issue with the right hand side of the header. In the Contact Us page there are three icons and next to each is a phone number and email. These icons don not appear in the other pages. It looks like they are lost. I cannot find them, and if they are lost or deleted, how can they appear in only one page.

What I did not mention that I, a couple of months ago, tried to change my theme to the Astra one but this was difficult to manage so I decided to switch back to my original theme. This may be the reason things are lost or look different.

Thanks again for trying to help me.

I have restored my website with a backup dated the 14th of August, and it is now back to normal. Thank you for your support.

    Hi @ksoussou,

Very pleased to learn that you were able to back up the earlier version and that it satisfies your need.

For the issue you described in the previous comment I can suggest that most likely your theme changing and the theme itself made the issue, not WordPress.

In case of the issue reappears, make sure to contact the theme support or developers forum and seek for direct solution, rather than using a previous version of your website (hence you will want to have all the latest edits on your website, I believe).

    Cheers!
