Header and Post featured image in category view

When linking menu options to a category view, the header image is replaced by the featured image in the first post in the category, which I quite like. What is less desirable is the right below the header image, the same featured image is displayed in a huge format in the post itself.

This means that the visitor sees the same image twice: in the header and in the post. Is there a way to suppress the featured image from the post, while still showing it in the header.
