header background image size

so i’ve been trying to set a backgroun image at the header where the menu goes, but i cant set a properly size for it, it’s always too small or too big, what size have’s to be the image to fit the better on the header of the site, it doesnt have to be 100% accurate but the better possible, or if it’s there a way with css codes to modify and make it fit better
