Header image disappeared

  • My website’s header image has mysteriously vanished. No previous problems, no new updates or plug-ins. Tried de-installing all plugins, deleting cache, restarting, etc.

    Now I can’t even figure out how I uploaded it in the first place – there doesn’t seem to be a place to add one either in Customize Theme or in Appearances / Settings.

    The image is still in the media file, just can’t see how to add it back to the header.

    I can’t see any reference to a header image in your site atm. Can you try uploading the image again via Appearance -> Header?

    That’s the problem – there is no Appeareance-> Header. No place to upload images. Can’t remember how it was uploaded in the first place, but I think it was in the Customize menu, and now the only option is to add a widget.

    Sorry – I assumed that this theme supported custom header images but it seems it doesn’t. This would mean that all of your header changes would need to be made using CSS. But do not edit the theme itself. First create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

    The problem is that I’ve had the same header image since I started building the site a week ago, which was supported by the theme, no CSS. No problems, looked great, then mysteriously vanished all of a sudden. No major changes, no updates, just disappeared with no clear way to re-upload it.

    I’m not a programmer and don’t do coding. This theme was beautiful and supported all of the things I needed until this happened.
    I’d like to know why it worked fine until now!

    I’ve tried everything I can think of: cleared cache, tried on firefox / chrome / safari, re-installed theme, all plug-ins, and header image, no changes.
    I’m pretty sure I originally uploaded the header image in the “customize” menu, but its just not there as an option anymore, plus no options in the “Appearance” menu for “Header”. I even tried installing a Custom Header Image plug-in, but can’t get that to work either.

    Is this a problem with the theme, or a bigger issue? It was working fine and looked beautiful until yesterday afternoon! So frustrating. Any advice would be much appreciated!
