Header image not showing

I cannot get the header image to show on the 2017 theme. When I add the custom header image with correct size requirements, it appears to be generating a list of responsive image sizes, which I believe is what is causing it to not work. I did an inspect on chrome noticed the “srcset” with it listing multiple image sizes, but when I remove all of the srcset images, it appears as it should. Is deleting this snippet of code the only way to resolve this?
