Hello, we started getting many customers saying that they cannot checkout due to a “header overflow” error which appears after signing in on PayPal express. We have double checked our configuration and everything appears to be the same. Is this a bug with PayPal or with the plugin? Ever since the update on 24 August, we are getting this “header overflow” error

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Go to PayPal express checkout
    2. Click on PayPal express button to sign in
    3. Sign in to Paypal
    4. The screen just goes blank with a “Header Overflow” at the top

  • Same for us.
Disabled all other plugins, downgraded the Plugin.
Tried different PayPal accounts to log in.
There are two versions of this issue:
    – you are not logged into your pp account, it will ask again and again for your mailadress
    – you are logged into your pp account, you’ll get a message “header overflow”
Testet with Chrome, FF, Safari, Opera, Chromium, cleared cache, no restrictions like ad-block or pop-up block

Hello @joostvandevijver , could you look at this issue asap? This issue is being reported all over github and many users are facing issues. We’ve switched to other PayPal plugins and can confirm that the “header overflow” bug is only specific to this woocommerce PayPal plugin. I also contacted the automattic engineers and they were able to reproduce the issue and opened a ticket for that. However, due to the urgency of the situation, please look into this issue asap.

    Hello @forwarddigital

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

As you can see on the GitHub issue, the problem is not related to the plugin, but to a PayPal outage. Even when people reverted to 2.2.0, the issue continued to show last week. Last week there were some outages on the PayPal server and this is something that we (the plugin developer) cannot do anything about.

I would advise getting in contact with PayPal Merchant Technical Support and see if they have any advice for you in regard to this problem.
We will also reach out to PayPal to get more details and see if we can get them to take action on this.

Please let us know if you get any promising response back from MTS, we will do the same with PayPal’s response.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

By switching to another plugin, the issue is gone.
Plugin created PP-App gives following Error:
    403

“message”: “This merchant account is not permitted to create Merchant Initiated Billing Agreement”,

    “name”: “REFUSED_MARK_REF_TXN_NOT_ENABLED”

PS: have the previous version of WooCommerce PayPal Payments in the staging site (4 weeks old) – worked like charme.
Dating up, the errors mentioned above occur.
There must be something wrong with this new version.

@joostvandevijver This is an issue with the plugin because once we switched plugins, the header overflow issue goes away. If you read the GitHub messages carefully, people are complaining about this header overflow errror but all your team did was simply to close the ticket.

By the way, I did reach out to Automattic and one of the support engineers could also reproduce the same issue (header overflow and cannot log in using PayPal express). I believe a ticket has already been created for that.

Please fix this plugin instead of blaming the issue on PayPal. It’s already very frustrating to work with a developer that thinks his plugin has no errors when it has been reported on GitHub and here by other people as well

I am not talking about last week. The issue is also occurring this week

    Hello,

PayPal informed us 7 hours ago that they rolled out a potential fix for the Header Overflow issue. Could you please let us know if you see the issue fixed, or if you are still encountering this issue?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
