I just downloaded Gateway free theme for the first time yesterday. I would assume that means I received the updated version with the mobile header correction. When I look at my website on my iPhone, the header is only partly visible. Please advice.

If the answer is to update my theme, please tell me how to do that. I have no idea!

If the answer is to enter the CSS code, please tell me how to do that. I have no idea about that either.

I suspect you might not be viewing the home page template. The header on the inner pages is a quarter of the size of the home page top image (also called the hero section). Have you assigned your home page template yet?

All I did was upload a custom header in the suggested pixels. The problem occurs on the home page as well as other pages.

Thanks for the quick response. Can you confirm that you’ve assigned the home page template to the page you’ve assigned in your Reading settings?

You won’t see the large home page image unless these steps are completed.

I’ll work on the home page template later today. I did not set that up.

Sounds good. Let me know how it goes. ??

    Hello,
I created a new home page per the instructions above. Still cannot see the custom header on any of the site pages on my mobile.

And since I’m already talking with you – I cannot add widgets to my home page alone. For example, I have social media buttons on all pages except the home page. I’d like to add that to the footer of the home page but there is no option to do so (although I saw on another thread here that supposedly there is).

Do you mind linking to your site that the theme is installed on?

When I look at it on a mobile device, it’s as if it is zooming in on the left of the custom header.

Thanks very much for the link.

It appears that you’re using the .com version which is supported and managed by the .com support team. This forum is only for the self hosted www.ads-software.com version of the theme.

Feedback and support for the WordPress.com version will need to be posted over there:

Surely you can’t be serious? I found my way to the support forum directly from the WordPress.com theme page. It gave an overview of your theme and then a button that linked me directly to the forum. Why would they provide that if it was only for the .org users? I am beyond frustrated right now! Ridiculous.

I can totally understand the frustration. My theme was taken by the .com team and converted over to their system without me being involved or able to provide support so my hands are tied.

The header on the standalone version here works great though. The problem is that WordPress.com doesn’t allow for theme uploading so an alternative is to perhaps consider using the stand-alone version of WordPress (.org) instead.

?www.ads-software.com is the same WordPress system you’re using now except that you’ll host your site with someone like Media Temple or GoDaddy:

    https://mediatemple.net/webhosting/wordpress/

    https://www.godaddy.com/hosting/wordpress-hosting.aspx

There are many other website hosting services but those are just a few examples.

One of the many perks of having WordPress as a stand-alone installation is that you can upload themes on your own (such as Gateway) rather than being locked into only the themes that WordPress.com have to offer.

I know it’s a bit confusing! But I hope that I was able to explain it ok. Don’t hesitate to let me know if something isn’t clear and I’ll be happy to help further!
