Heading in the Right Direction
-
I’m currently considering this plugin as a basis for my online database of apartments. Here’s some initial thoughts:
I would like to be able to easily change the price – not just set it once (markets fluctuate with apartment complexes and I’d rather not be sued by a state attorney general for fraudulent advertising or lose my real estate license). Allow for searches to include hyphens. I set-up a feature to be searchable by “IH-35”, which is Interstate 35, but it refuses to work. In the area most people (my customers online) will use “I-35” or “IH-35” as a search parameter.
I don’t understand the “building”, “floorplan”, “SingleFamilyHome” property type design. I’m sure that’s useful for the real estate broker trying to do everything. However, if I’m focusing on only apartments I don’t need all of the rest. It’d be nice to simply turn them off and enter a custom property type.
If I’m listing an apartment I want to list that apartment only once with all the different floor plans it offers (a listing with listings inside it), different prices (with the option to change them – even better would be an option to publish when the price was last entered so customers know how useful it is). I don’t want to list every vacancy a given apartment has as that would be ridiculously impracticable not to mention a waste of my time when I could be doing something that makes me money.
I also don’t understand why there is a search option for beds/baths when there is no way to easily enter the number of beds/baths for a given property.
Overall I like the direction this is going, and I’ll be keeping an eye on it. For now I’m not sure it works for what I want it to do.
