Heading/text widget not working
-
This is what has driven me to the point of despair:
Using the default template, I tried to create a newsletter for immediate delivery after somebody signs-up. The immediate problem was that no matter how I tried I could not add text to the newsletter despite dragging the text widget to the appropriate place. Nothing happened when I did as instructed on screen and tried to “click here to add text”. This design element did not work. For the record, all of the other design items worked.
As a last throw of the dice in trying create the newsletter, using Firefox browser and Windows 7 Professional, I right-clicked on the widget in the newsletter and selected “inspect element” from the drop-down menu. I then highlighted the relevant section of HTML and right-clicked on it. From the drop-down menu I selected “edit HTML”. With a bit of trial and error, I was able to put in the few words of text that I wanted – and it was only a few words.
The text box element was fixed at a small size and was not responding. That might have had something to do with the problem.
The workround enabled me to complete the short newsletter. The problem remains that this design element does not work. For the record, the other design elements appeared to work – but they were not tested thoroughly.
I notice that MailPoet has not been tested with WordPress 4.6 and maybe there is also a conflict there.
On the face of it, MailPoet could be just what I need – provided it can be made to work properly.
Any ideas on how to get MailPoet working properly would be appreciated.
