• I have a WordPress site at https://www.thewoodstreetextra.com. On the homepage where stories are listed, the headlines are breaking in annoying ways, so for instance you see:
Riverhounds open season with deadlock, but
keep focus trained on improving record

    where it should read:

    Riverhounds open season with deadlock,
but keep focus trained on improving record

Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • This is how your Theme you are using breaks up your headline to fit in the static size box on the homepage.

Because the box is only so wide, only so many characters (white space included) will fit in there.

To fix it, you’d have to edit your theme’s code to widen the box. But doing that will affect everything on the right as well.

If you know how to code and design sites, go for it. If not, be real careful because you could really mess things up.

Thanks. So then is there no way to set a sort of custom text box width for each headline? It’s not the length that I’m concerned with, but the headline style, meaning that each headline would have to break at a different spot depending on what it says.

That might be a bit difficult. Your best bet would be to seek out a WordPress designer/coder and ask them your questions.

Don’t ask here as that is not something you should do in the forums here. Instead, use this site to find people who might help you (or just Google a WordPress designer):
