Hey there, I’m trying to enable a heatmap experiment for my home page (which is a static page). however, the option isn’t listed in the dropdown for this experiment (it’s there for some others). Screenshot of “Add Heatmap” screen

Aside from my homepage, I only have single product pages (which are also not available for heatmap experiments). Hence, I cannot get any heatmaps experiment to run. Am I missing something? I already tried it with either of the settings in Miscellaneous >> Front Page

Hi! Thanks for getting in touch.

I’m trying to enable a heatmap experiment for my home page (which is a static page). however, the option isn’t listed in the dropdown for this experiment (it’s there for some others).

The dropdown field only shows a few pages (sorted alphabetically) or posts (sorted by date). If the page you’re looking for is not included, you can use the inner search box to look for other pages or posts.

Aside from my homepage, I only have single product pages (which are also not available for heatmap experiments). Hence, I cannot get any heatmaps experiment to run.

You’re absolutely right. Apparently, you can’t select WooCommerce products when creating a Heatmap experiment. Luckily, I can easily fix this issue.

I’ll update the plugin shortly with this fix (and other minor tweaks). Stay tuned!

    Hey David,

Thanks so much for your quick response.

Maybe I wasn’t clear enough: the homepage is not listed. So searching doesn’t help. And when I switch to the other option, it does show the option “Landing Page (theme-based) but that doesn’t work either. (Even after several days, I don’t get any pageviews for any of these heatmap experiments, while I do see pageviews coming in for my other experiments).

After your other comment about WooCommerce, I think I should add that my homepage is actually the WC shop Base Page. Could this be related?

    Hi Pyramusnl,

Hey David, your update partly resolved this issue. Thank you for that. However, the search seems broken now (it keeps spinning and never actually completes with results) so I still can’t add an experiment for a product that is not in the initial list. Any thoughts?

    Hi!

If the spinner keeps spinning and never returns new results, then it’s probably because some other plugin in your WordPress installation is “polluting” the JSON result. In this screenshot, you can see that the AJAX call returns a plain JSON; some plugins or themes print stuff during AJAX requests, resulting in invalid JSON objects that our JavaScript functions cannot parse.

Check this out and let me know what you found.

Hey David, sorry for not replying before. You can close it.
After every update, the previously collected data from A/B tests vanished, so I stopped using the plugin.
