• Hello,

We’ve been developing with WordPress for about 8 years, and we’ve been fixed on building our own custom themes for projects and using WooThemes, MySiteMyWay and a few others as a “bootstrap” to some projects, but I was looking for some recommendations on themes that are industry strength and adaptable to a lot of functional customization. Sound and optimized design for fast loading and speed in mind.

Can you make any recommendations and as to why you would use over others?

  • I find it best to find an old outdated theme, strip it down, and build it back up. It helps keep me informed on all current WP theme requirements. If your theme will be as custom as you say why not build your own from scratch? Build a simple base theme and back it up. Then use this base every time you start a new theme. Just continuously update the base to match WP requirements.

There is BlankSlate but I think it is too bloated with custom functions.
