• Has Anyone else been getting just bombarded with this g-d-damn spamming bot that always leaves the same stupid comment: “Hello! Good Site! Thanks you!” with some gibberish words after that comment? I’m having to manually delete anywhere from 20 to 30 of them every single day across my blogs. Akismet catches most of them, but some are still getting through.

Is it possible to ban the phrase “Hello! Good Site! Thanks you!”? IF a comment matches that phrase, it gets banned or put into the spam column? Putting the phrase in the comments blacklist box seems a bit too dangerous.

    Any thoughts?

Yes, Bad Behaviour is a good idea, but I’m also a bit disappointed that akismet hasn’t caught on to this particular bit of spam yet. I get it frequently too.

Thousands. Personally, with our webhosting and over in wp.com land. I’ve been watching the IP addresses but looks like it’s all over the place. Looks like a large series of trojaned boxes. The linked domains are usually different as well.

That’s probably why Akismet hasn’t caught on. There’s no pattern with IP addresses, URLs or content.

edit: BB appears not to be cacthing them either. At least that’s what we’ve gotten back from a couple of anto-Akismet diehards that I host.

Hmm, okay. Too bad we can’t just enter an exact string to block. That would work.

i must be lucky, im not seeing ’em ??

You could always blacklist the string “hello! good site! thanks you!” in your blog options (under “discussion”).

On the off-chance that a legitimate visitor leaves that comment, well, they deserve to have their comment not show up. ??
