• I am wondering if I can reinstall WordPress and use the existing DB…here’s my dilemma…due to some impatience on my part, my site is currently not functioning and when I try to get to any page nothing can be found…my guess is I have screwed up the scripts and figure I should blow out the existing install and start anew, but don’t want to lose the posts in the DB…is that possible or is there another way to fix this mess?

  • If you re-install it to the same database AND with the same table prefix (default is wp_) then you will definitely lose your posts.

You can install it in a new DB or with a different prefix, but then you’ll have to import later your posts from the earlier install.

Maybe the whole thing could be fixed by someone with more experience – I don’t know.

Based on the info you provided that’s the most I can say.

I have had to reinstall WordPress on my shared hosting service. I created a new DB for the new install and am now wondering if I can import my old posts to the new db?
