    Hi,

Im still learning the ropes, hope someone can help…

When I created my wordpress site (antiquariaatschuhmacher.nl), before installing it, I uploaded wordpress to public_html through my ftp program because I was told this would make my site more secure. I then renamed wordpress cms. My url therefore became antiquariaatschuhmacher.nl/cms.

Later on I wanted to change this and to this purpose moved htaccess and index.php to public_html and changed the siteURL (but not the homeURL) in wpconfig.php, wanting to change my url from antiquariaatschuhmacher.nl/cms to antiquariaatschuhmacher.nl.

It seems to have worked up to a point, as antiquariaatschuhmacher.nl now takes me to the homepage, and I still log in to the dashboard by going to antiquariaaschuhmacher.nl/cms/wp-admin. However, although my home page is visible, as soon as I navigate away from my homepage I get an error code 403. The exact message I get is:

    “Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /cms/?page_id=37 on this server.
    ——————————————————————————–
    antiquariaatschuhmacher.nl ”

Another issues is I can no longer view my site from the dasboard, although I can go directly to my homepage as long as I dont go through the dashboard. Also the layout of the dashboard is messed up. Other than this the dashboard works fine, and I can edit the site, but at the moment people can only see my homepage.

Im afraid to try anything else now, how do I fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Check this https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress

You need to move all folders when moving wordpress not just the index file

    Hi,

Many thanks for your help. Im trying to follow the instructions but get stuck where it tells me to go to permalinks and update to htaccess file. Im new to all this, and Im not sure what im supposed to do. There doesnt seem to be an option to do this from the dashboard?

I ve ftp-ed to my htaccess file and this reads: “Options -Indexes +ExecCGI
AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl” Should I change this?

I ve moved all folders to public.html and have changed the wordpress and site address from antiquariaatschuhmacher.nl/cms to antiquariaatschuhmacher.nl (without the /cms).

I can now navigate my site but I can no longer access the dashboard.

I have access now after I changed the site URL in phpmyadmin. Now the only problem is my uploaded images seem to be messed up. I didnt run searchandreplace like the manual told me to, because stupidly I couldnt work out how to, so thats probably why this happened. Im hoping I will figure it out though.

Ok that worked, but now I have another problem.

When I view my site in internet explorer, whenever I click on any of the links on my site I get a runtime error message and internet explorer closes my site. Strangely enough this doesnt happen in Chrome.

I ve deactivated and deleted the search and replace plugin, as I thought that might be the cause of the problem, but that hasnt made a difference. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

    Many thanks!

Glad you solved the issue. Runtime error in IE you mean? I am afraid I cannot help you on that one. Try posting on IE forums or so.

I fixed it by resetting Internet Explorer. Everything seems to be working fine now. Many thanks again for your help!
