I hope someone can help me with this. My blog is here:
    https://conquer-premature-ejaculation.com/

I had 2.7.1 and hit the button to upgrade to 2.8.5, and it said it completed everything, yet when I try to browse to my site, I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method WordPress_Module::_weak_escape() in /home/conquer1/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 487

I know I am going to get fried for this but…In the past when I have done the auto upgrade, i thought the process prompted to backup at all the steps, so that was what I had expected. However, that didn’t happen, and thus…I DIDN’T BACK UP ANYTHING!

I tried looking at wp-db.php for clues as to what could be causing this, but I am not a coder and can’t see anything obvious.

Any assistance would be very appreciated.

    FIXED! WooHoo!

Thanks very much to this awesomely helpful thread:
    https://konstruktors.com/blog/wordpress/984-wordpress-28-bleeding-edge-and-wordpress_module_weak_escape/

I simply renamed “plugins” to “plugins.old” and recreated an empty “plugins” directory.

From what I read on that thread, the “redirection” plugin was identified as the offending culprit that breaks WP sites upgraded to 2.8.x

Now I am going to try deactivating redirection and then moving all the rest over, or if there are still problems, just moving them 1 by 1 if need be.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
