HELP – blog and wp-admin URL not working

    Hi, I’ve let this problem linger for some time and want to correct it.

    A month or so ago I was trying to upgrade my WordPress software automatically but something was causing it not to work. Then my blog stopped appearing on my url.

    And also when I try to log into my admin THAT url doesn’t work either!

    Since then I haven’t been able to figure out the problem. My server people said they detect no problem on their end. I did a manual upgrade of WordPress successfully, but the URL still doesn’t work.

    Does anyone have a clue as to what would cause my URL and admin URL to stop working? I really need some guidance on this one.

    Did you try deactivating all the plugins by renaming the plugins folder?

    Ha! That worked. The blog shows now. Thank you. So what does this mean for my plugins? Is there a bad element in the mix that I need to get rid of?

    Yes, that’s probably it – you can name your plugins folder back to plugins and then carefully go and activate them one by one until something stops working (or, it might not stop working, who knows). If one of those plugins breaks your site, you can rename that specific plugin’s folder to deactivate it and then I’d report it to the plugin developer if other people haven’t already.
