• Holyshits!

I’ve just updated to WP4.4 and now I cannot login into my site or access my dashboard anymore. I cannot disable plugins because I cannot access dashboard.
To make it clear: wp-admin and wp-login stopped working! => cannot de-activate plugins anymore.

    Need a fix asap!

Now getting this error after flushing all caches, etc. when trying to load my website.com/wp-admin in all browsers:

    The page isn’t redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    In Safari:
“…. Too many redirects occured trying to open …blablaalaalalalaaa”

    1. Are these Multisite Networks?

    2. Are you using Cloudflare?

    3. What is the full /wp-admin/ URL that it tries to send you to?

James this is not a multi site network or cloud flare. None of them are and it’s installed in a subdirectories.

    The url for login https://fathersimpact.com/cmsdirectory/wp-admin/

    Hello James,

Cloudflare was already switched off and we also did the manual upgrade on all 4 sites (all sites are installed in the root), but still the same problem: 404-page and no access into dashboard. So we rolled back to the previous WP version and all worked fine again.

Also see a lot of users having the same problems.

    I guess it’s a permalink problem.

Have you guys found a quick fix?

There’s got to be a common link here outside of the sub-directory. I have another couple sites that updated without issue.

Are these sites using Redirection plugins, by chance? Or anything that might change the permalink behavior?

The site I’m having issues with has Redirection, but so does another that updated without issue. I’m at a loss as to the common connection that might lead us to the issue.

Well, you three do have one thing in common, and that’s the very same issue.

It’s reproducible for you three, and it’s affecting subdirectory installations.

It’s not enough to establish a cause, but I think it’s enough to put in front of the developers, and perhaps their knowledge plus your info will help track it down.

    Follow this guide: https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/handbook/testing/reporting-bugs/

Then once reported, reply back here with a link for anyone else who runs into this.

    Thanks for reporting this!

I’ll set up a ticket and reference this post.

    Thank you!

I just updated 7 WordPress sites to 4.4 and now I cannot login to any of them.

They were all working fine before the upgrade.

These ARE NOT MULTISITE WordPress Installations. They are 7 separate installations.

I do not have Cloudfare installed.

Actually, I cannot login to any of the sites I upgraded using the “domainname.com/wp-admin” link.

The few that had WP-User Control plugin installed to place a login section on the main page allow me to login using that feature, but none of the seven sites allows me to login through the Wp-Admin page.

So…on my WordPress sites that don’t have the WP User Control plugin installed and activated, I cannot log in.

Since I cannot login, I cannot install, activate and using Widgets, place the plugin to let me login.

I can FTP the plugin to the other sites, but since I cannot login, I cannot activate and configure it. A real Catch-22. Can’t login to add a plugin necessary for me to login!

    Any help would be appreciated.

Look at the site via FTP. Does the wp-admin directory actually exist? Does it have the normal permissions as everything else?

    Otto,

Yes, the wp-admin directory exists in all instances.

I’m not sure what the normal permissions are.

Can you tell me where I find them nd what they should be?

    Thank you.
