I’m a newbie to wordpress. I want to use it primarily as a small 6 page website. I installed sucessfully 2.6.1 a few months ago.

My second task was to create my own theme. I am a Front End web designer so I am very experienced with style sheets, can work my way around .asp, cfm, etc. although .php was new to me.

HELP: I went and copied the default theme, changed the name to PSCC and uploaded it in the themes directory and it showed up in the themes in the control panel. My intention was to edit the default theme with the new style sheet and changes to the actual page as needed. Now I cannot change the theme even to the classic theme.

I click on any them in the control panel and I get “File not found”

    Any suggestions?

  • Re-upload the default, classic and your newly copied theme (I assume you changed the portion in style.css with new name based on Kubrick). Clear browser cache, refresh, etc. Log out and log back in Admin panel.

I actually didn’t change anything in the css. I was going to start changing things after I uploaded it. Being a bit thick, what exactly should I have changed in the style sheet? Should I have changed something in the commented out part at the top?

    Thanks for your time.

I discovered that the issue had to do with the fact I changed the permalinks and the themes couldn’t find the homepage. I returned the links to the default with the question mark and I could change the theme.

Could you please explain in a little more detail for us “Dummies” or/This “Dummie”
